Now they are starting another batch that Norm has arranged to go to  Afganistan.

BRING YOUR DUES UP TO DATE
Before treasurer Rob Downing leaves next week please bring your dues up to date, so he can go on a trip without worrying about it.

Capital City Kiwanis Club Annual Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, 13 February, at the Applebee's (1400 Village Square
Blvd--off Thomasville Road--in Tallahassee) between 8-10AM.  That is the day
before Valentine's Day and a great opportunity to treat your sweetheart to a
sweet breakfast deal.  Cost will be $7 per person and tickets can be
purchased from Jim Wylie or any CCKC member or you may pay at the door.  The
breakfast will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and beverage.  All
proceeds will go to support the more than 20 service projects for the needy,
underprivileged kids and elderly in the Tallahassee area.  Members are all invited, so please come and bring your special Valentine!!

President Jim Barger has earned 8 years of perfect attendance. Richard Ziegler presented him with his pin tab.

Past Member Remembering
Jan Collier, who was a very active member a few years ago has rejoined our club. Jan works with the local animal protection and rescue community on various projects.

Young Children Priority One
Bob Gragnani has given up his effort of purchasing clothing for infants and young children at TMH which he has headed up for many years (nearly 20). Each year the club budgets funds and Bob has gone out and solicited discounts from cooperative local merchants. Johnnye Luebkemann will take over this function with her highly developed purchasing skills.

Donations for Haiti Earthquake Victims
Bob Bull reported that ourTallahassee LARC AKtion Club voted to contribute $100.00 to the Haitian Earthquake Relief Effort. These funds will be presented to our club at our next regular meeting on Thursday the 21st of January for passing on for the oversight of our Kiwanian Rick Theobald.
It would be nice if the individual membership saw fit to participate as their ability to do so permits.
Also, last Thursday an email from the Florida District regarding ways to contribute was forwarded to all members.
---
At this meeting we passed the hat and raised $189.00 not counting the $100 from the AKtion Club.

Please note the Blue Light Teams
listed at the bottom of the green column to the left. President Jim announced these teams and their purposes in his initial meeting back in October.

Keep our ill and grieving members and families, and travelers in your prayers.

2010 Partners/Sponsors
A new fund raising concept above and beyond the Golf Tournament.
Instead of just soliciting sponsorships for the golf tournament Al has suggested we solicit Partners/Sponsors for year round support of our Community Service Programs. Partners/Sponsors will get the same recognition as in the golf tournament but, in addition, will be listed on a new page of our web site. The minimum sponsor amount is $150 but more is encouraged.  Al has developed a new information sheet to use along with the new Collage that was handed our earlier. If you did not get one contact Al.
  This week
hard copies have been provided to record the sponsorships and in the next week Chuck will email PDF copies to everyone. Members can then file them on their computers and print them as needed.
-------
Al has already obtained 5 sponsors using this new method.

HOW TO MAKE UP MISSED MEETINGS TO MAINTAIN YOUR PERFECT ATTENDANCE RECORD
Simply attend a meeting of another club, including AKtion, Key, K-Kids, or another Kiwanis Club, a Division Council meeting, a club project, or a Board meeting.
With all
these possibilities there is little reason not to have perfect attendance.

To Do List:

Increase your efforts for the coming year.
Help us grow toward better community service.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARDS
Tell Al Eppinger how many years are shown on your current perfect attendance tab, if you have one. Also, tell him how many years you have earned. This includes previous membership in other Kiwanis clubs. This is not for calender years. It is for one year of consecutive  meetings and/or makeups.
