To Print Your Newsletter
The following
instructions apply to the MS Internet
Explorer Browser, but other browsers will be similar.
Get the newsletter in the browser window. At the left end of the top menu line click on FILE. Then click on Page Setup. You will get a Page Setup Box. At bottom set all four "margins" to .25 inches. Click OK. This should keep the right side from being cutoff during printing.
To print click on FILE again. Then click on PRINT. A new print box comes up. There should be a "Print Range" section where you can select "Print All" or "Print a Range of Pages". The first time select print "all" so you will have a copy of the entire Newsletter content. On subsequent issues you can select "Print Pages 1 - 5" and you should get all of the current news section.

| This Week's Meeting April 30th, 2009 Presiding: COLOMBO; Pledge: GRIFFIN; Song: KRAUSE; Prayer: LATOUR; Introduction: WALTER; Winner: BOB HENDERSON (VISITOR); Attendance: 26; Brag For a Buck: LATOUR, leavig for two months of teaching in Spain. WYLIE, Miracle Field article on the Democrat. ROBBINS, visit to re-enactment at Quitman. Guests: JIM WYLIE and BOB HENDERSON of the Capital City Club delivering onions. Also guests of LaTour: JERRY MCBEE, retired math professor; ARNEL BACONI, Assistant Dir of Facilities, FSU. PROGRAM Golf Tournament Last minute coordination meeting Things are looking pretty good, only about 65 players and an appropriate number of prizes. Also, there are more sponsors than ever but not as many of the higher values. Johnnye Luebkemann gets her 11th year perfect attendance fob.  UNDIES FOR THE REFUGE HOUSE Johnnye announced that she spent $87.33 at Beall's and saved $126 with the great discounts Jim Goodman gives us there. She also read a moving letter from the Director of the shelter for battered women. STUFFED ANIMAL COLLECTION It looked like about 12 stuffed animals were brought in to add to previous donations to be given to kids with cancer. Medium sizes preferred. The Tallahassee Club has a new meeting location. They are back at the Capital City Country Club, which is where they used to meet. Golf Tournament Please view our golf web pages and mention errors or changes needed. Tell your donors and sponsors to check for their name there, but first make sure it is there. If not, let me know. EDUCATIONAL NOTE Click here to check these items each week to learn about Kiwanis history and trivia. REMEMBER ELECTIONS ARE TO BE SOON. Let President Dave know that you are willing to serve in leadership as an officer or director. Training for the new officers will be June 3rd at the Fellowship Baptist Church on North Monroe St. ------- *A volunteer is STILL needed to take over the Community Service Committee to relieve President Dave Colombo of those tasks. He has enough to do. The chair does not have to do all the work. Solicit several committee members to assist. *Need someone to do the March of Dimes. *A volunteer is STILL needed to be treasurer in place of President Elect Jim Barger. He will train thoroughly and be available to help. *Also, a Secretary Understudy is needed to help Al Eppinger with secretarily duties while he is handling the golf tournament. *The club needs a public relations chair. Step forward and help our club get recognition for all the good things we do. You can let your imagination run free. --- Tommy Mills is handling Habitat for Humanity and he will look for Diaper Bank contacts to determine how/if to proceed with it. Other possible projects the Board is looking at are: Pregnancy Help Center (PHI), Blankets, Guardian ad litem, New Senior Projects, and International Fund Walk. Al Eppinger will do the Builders Club later this year. Loose Change Collections Bring your loose change in to C. K. for the Kiwanis International Special Projects Fund. MEMBER NOTES DENNIS FAUST and JIM VARLEY are still recovering. BEN COLMERY is in Michigan to visit his sons until May 4th. THE LATOUR'S LEAVING for two months teaching in Spain.Keep our ill and grieving members and families, and travelers in your prayers. MAY BIRTHDAYS 2nd - Charles Nuzum (in remembrance) 19th - Charles Esher 21st - Johnnye Luebkemann A VOLUNTEER IS NEEDED TO HEAD UP our execution of The District Governor's Hugs and Hats Project Get details from President Dave. It is a one time project and will involve coordinating member efforts to collect new or good used stuffed animals and caps, and arranging with agencies to which they can be delivered. "There ain't nothin to it." Killearn Homes Association Project In April or May? we will be building trash can containers for the KHA parks. George Sweat has been our contact with KHA on this and we are waiting for details from them. Capital City Club Vidalia Onion Sale Delivery is to be this coming week. Bring your checkbooks. K-KIDS PROJECTS  The DeSoto Trail K-Kids Our committee members are "LT" Thompson, Eric Metcalf, Jim Varley and John Ryor. Last meeting of the year will be Wednesday at 7:45 AM to 8:30 in the Art Room. --------- The Gilchrist Elementary K-Kids Our committee members are: Al Eppinger, George Sweat, Kathy Cole, Tommy Mills. Faculty Sponsors Ms Whitaker and Mr. Rodenborg Kathy Cole keeps their meeting minutes. The Club raised $650 for the Brenda Lucas Family Endownment, a cancer fund. On May 8th at 8:45 AM they will conduct a Teacher Appreciation Car Wash. We can help by washing or bring supplies like buckets, sponges, towels. The club will participate in the Relay For Life. ---- The club has 7-8 projects selected for the year. ---- Relay For Life Project in May Last year they raised $4,000 --- Are you as smart as a 5th grader? Our team won by default? It will be attempted again this Fall. AWARDS FOR 2008-2009 Committee Chairs must submit committee reports to the District online at the District web site to be eligible for awards. It is easy once you get the feel of it. Get off to a good start by doing it now. Get the recognition we deserve. Serving The Club If you don't feel like you are involved enough in community service there is plenty to be done. AKTION CLUB  SECOND & FOURTH THURSDAYS 6:30 - 7:30 PM April 23rd was elections, which is an experience worth experiencing like all other AKtion activities. Every member ought to experience an AKtion Club Meeting, or project. ----- President Colombo would like us to make a better effort to support the Aktion Club by attending more of their meetings on a regular basis and participating in more of their projects. Over that time costs $5.00 HOW TO MAKE UP MISSED MEETINGS TO MAINTAIN YOUR PERFECT ATTENDANCE RECORD Simply attend a meeting of another club, including AKtion, Key, K-Kids, or another Kiwanis Club, a Division Council meeting, a club project, or a Board meeting. With all these possibilities there is little reason not to have perfect attendance. COMMITTEE CHAIRS SUBMIT ALL YOUR MONTHLY REPORTS FOR THIS YEAR. It is the only way your committee can be eligible for District awards. If you get behind you can catch up on the past due reports. Ruby K Award If you have recruited 5 or more members you are eligible for this award; that is, if you can remember their names. Give the names of your recruits to George Sweat and maybe he will get the pin for you. Awards are made for increments of five members recruited. PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARDS Tell Secretary Al Eppinger how many years are shown on your current perfect attendance tab, if you have one. Also, tell him how many years you have earned. This includes previous membership in other Kiwanis clubs. This is not for calender years. It is for one year of consecutive meetings and/or makeups. |
