2010-11 Governor Tom Ramiccio has
issued "A Call To Action" for Kiwanis members and families to join together with
The Children's Movement to attend the Milk Party Rallies throughout the Florida
District. Kiwanians are encouraged to wear their Kiwanis apparrel and to kick
off our new theme "Time to Serve" by being tireless advocates for children and
children's issues. These Milk Party Rallies and the Gubernatorial Debates on the
critical issues facing families and children are an outstanding example of how
Kiwanians can play a leading role in child advocacy and addressing the needs of
young children. This is not a political movement and we are not supporting
candidates from one party or another. We are expressing our concerns for
children, regardless of party affiliation.
Kiwanis has always been in the
forefront of service. It's time to emphasize that Kiwanis makes Young Children:
Priority One.

PROGRAM  Lt. Gov. Tommy uninstalling Richard (Installation of Officers and Directors) New Lt. Governor Tommy Mills Installed for the 2011-2012 administrative year: President, Kathy Cole; President Elect, Chas LaTour; Treasurer, Bob Downing; New Board members, Calvin Read, Josh DeSha and Dave Colombo until Sept 30, 2013. Luebekemann and Ryor remaining until Sept 30, 2012. Thanks to these folks who have agreed to take over a portion of the Club leadership for the future. Board Actions $100 allocated to help the Key Club divison with food for this weekend's meeting. ----- Extended the Alternative Membership program. Dictionary Project Norm Mears and some helpers have distributed 400+ dictionaries to 3rd graders in 4-5 elementary schools. Timberlane Road Pickup Saturday, Nov. 5th at 8:30 AM. Help is neede for Calvin Read and Bill Dawkins. A list will be circulated. Eliminate Project Continue collecting loose change and bring it in the last Thursday. CORRECTION Lake Jackson Pancake Breakfast Saturday, October 8th from 7:30 AM to 10:00. WFSU FUND RAISING Volunteers neede October 12th - 21st. TMH STARTER KIT SHOPPING Johnnye reported spending $332 plus and saving $492 for the benefit of the TMH New Born Intensive Care Unit. WARNING!!!! The West Nile Virus is back with us. Protect yourself against mosquito bites. MEMBER NOTES THE READS will be on a two week trip. Keep our ill and grieving members and families, and travelers in your prayers.
Miscellaneous Notes The Capital City Kiwanis Club's Annual Dinner Killearn Country Club THIS Friday, September 30th, Social at 6:30 and dinner at 7 PM. $25 per person. Officer Installation by Incoming Lt. Gov. Tommy Mills and Allan Whetsell, District Gov. Elect. Judge Karen Geivers is the key note speaker. We are all invited. ------ Aktion Club Awards Banquet Put October 24th on your calender. 6:30 - 8 PM at the Golden Corall. Tommy Mills will be installing new officers. ------ The Tallahassee Club Golf Tournament will be October 10th at Southwood. Chas LaTour is trying to arrange a foursome for our club. ------ Our bylaws were updated by Pam Cooper and are now available in the sign-in case. Lt. Governor Tommy Mills of the Killearn Kiwanis Club DIVISION 3 COUNCIL MEETING Next Meeting Monday, October 10th, 2011 It will be Tommy Mills' first meeting as Lt. Gov. Location to be announced. Club voting members are: President, Pres Elect, Secretary and Interclub chair per the Div 3 Policies and Procedures. President, President Elect, Secretary and Interclub Chair should attend. All others welcome. AKTION CLUB  Meeting SECOND & FOURTH MONDAYS 7 - 8 PM at the Hancock Bank Community Room at the corner of Mahan and Riggins ---- Our Aktion Club scrapbook earned 3rd place in the competition at the District Convention last week. ----- Aktion Club Awards Banquet Put October 24th on your calender. 6:30 - 8 PM at the Golden Corall. Tommy Mills will be installing new officers. ----- Dempsey Mayo Quaterly Road Pickup September 21st, 8:55 AM ----- PLEASE HELP MAKE EVERY AKTION CLUB MEETING AN INTERCLUB. -------- Aktion Club donated money to Eliminate to help us get to $1,200. ------ Aktion needs one of our members to volunteer to handle arrangements for their car wash fund raiser. Ruby K Award If you have recruited 5 or more members you are eligible for this award; that is, if you can remember their names. Give the names of your recruits to George Sweat and maybe he will get the pin for you. Awards are made for increments of five members recruited. COMMITTEE CHAIRS SUBMIT ALL YOUR MONTHLY REPORTS FOR THIS YEAR. It is the only way your committee can be eligible for District awards. If you get behind you can catch up on the past due reports. Also, good used clothing for Vets. The American Legion also has a program subsidizing rent for Vets. (GRAGNANI) AND Books for pre-schoolers for this fall. HOW TO MAKE UP MISSED MEETINGS TO MAINTAIN YOUR PERFECT ATTENDANCE RECORD Simply attend a meeting of another club, including AKtion, Key, K-Kids, or another Kiwanis Club, a Division Council meeting, a club project, or a Board meeting. With all these possibilities there is little reason not to have perfect attendance. Serving The Community If you don't feel like you are involved enough in community service there is plenty to be done. Tell President Elect Cathy Cole how you want to be involved in the coming year.
