Killearn Kiwanis Board Minutes

Members Present – Jim Barger, Richard Zeigler, Bob Downing, Pam Cooper, Charlie Esher, Tom Fackender, George Sweat, Johnnye Luebkemann and David Colombo

 

President Jim Barger opened the meeting with a prayer at 7 AM.

 

Secretary’s Report – Minutes from February meeting approved without amendments

 

Treasurer’s Report – Approved as presented

 

Announcements – Governor’s Dinner on March 22, 2010 at Golden Eagle

 

Committee Reports –

            Golf- No report

 

Key Club – Lord Layton is on hold for a date later in the year, if it is not scheduled the Bufton Scholarship will be awarded at a club meeting.  They have projects in progress.  Officer nominations are being received for next year.  Richard Zeigler was reimbursed $109 for Key Club binders for the officers and coffee mug for the sponsor he ordered.

 

Membership – Forty copies of the book “Kiwanis is a Verb” was approved for purchase, to be used for new members and information for current members.

 

K-Kids Club – April 22 DeSoto Trail is having a school-wide event and will celebrate Earth Day.  They will need some assistance with logistics, such as parking. Gilchrist had 128 kids, parents & faculty for school grounds clean-up day.

 

Builders Club – On schedule for Deerlake Middle School for next year.  Al Eppinger is the contact person.

 

Aktion Club – Road clean-up Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 1:30 PM.  Concern about drop in membership, they are looking for alternatives to get members back and to find new members.

 

Old Business – Mary Young, Miccosukee Education Foundation and Buddy Streit, Boys and Girls Club will each receive a check for $2,635 at the March 18, 2010 meeting.

 

New Business – None

Update – Fuller Center doing rehab construction in Lakewood area.  Charlie Esher is costing out the design for desks for Davis Scholarship House.
