Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Presiding: Pres. John Ryor called the meeting to order at 0700 HRS.

Board members present: President, John Ryor; Treasurer, Jim Barger; Secretary, Jim Varley; Remaining on the Board: Immediate Past Pres., Tommy Mills.

Directors: Johnnye Luebkemann & John Robbins (until 9/08).

Committee Chairs: B. Bull (AKtion), R. Ziegler (Key), Nuzum(Golf), Mills(Diaper Drop/Vets).

Other Members present: Steve Mayberry.

The minutes of the 19MAR08 meeting were read and approved:

The Treasurers Report was read and approved: Jim Barger reported the following balances:

ADMIN: $642.23, FOUNDATION: $15,412.93, FOUNDATION CD: $10.,270.05,

TOTAL: $26,325.21. (See hard copy attached.)

Steve Mayberry was nominated to replace Marvin Doyal as a Director. The Board unanimously approved the nomination. Golf ads are appearing nightly on TV and Radio. Second notices have been mailed to previous participants. Those non-responsive former participants are also being contacted by members telephonically. We still need more sponsors and players. Keith Taylor requested that he be transferred to another club with a noon meeting time. His request was approved by the board. Club leadership training is scheduled for 09JUN08 with the location to be determined. K-Kids Club meeting with faculty of DeSoto Trails School is scheduled for 21APR08. Capital City Kiwanis is selling Vidalia Onions once again as a fund raiser. Killearn Kiwanis has committed to support their efforts. Killearn Kiwanis elections are coming soon for year 08-09. Colombo will chair the elections committee for president elect, Treasurer, and 2 Directors to replace Luebkeman and Robins. Secretary is appointed by the Board. AKtion Club: AKtion Club has a program for every meeting through July 2008. They held a successful Dog Wash last Saturday at the Humane Society. Killearn Kiwanis Club received 2 patches from Kiwanis for our honor banner for our work with the AKtion Club. KEY Club: Three students and 1 teacher attended this year’s KEY Club convention in Orlando, FL. We need to re-institute the sign-up sheets to encourage Kiwanians to attend AKtion and KEY Club meetings. We need to procure 2 trophies for our Golf Tournament for the overall individual winner of the women’s and men’s flights. The Killearn Homeowners Park up grades is still on hold.

The board approved upgrading our club’s sponsorship for the Guardian ad Litem fund raiser to $250.00. Tickets are available from the Secretary for the Guardian ad Litem fund raiser, A Tour of Homes on 09MAY08.

Alternative projects to consider to augment our administrative fund:

a. Mia Bella Candle sales,

b. Poker Night at the Club,

c. Raffle, e.g. sell tickets for a week at the beach for $25.00 each with tickets limited to 100.

d. Aluminum sales?
