DIVISION 3 RALPH DAVIS KIWANIS HOUSE
Division 3 of the Florida District continues to support the Ralph Davis Scholarship house at Florida State University in Tallahassee. This house was named in honor of the late Ralph Davis, Past District Governor, and member of the Tallahassee Kiwanis Club. Division 3 clubs financed the house originally but turned over the management and awarding of scholarships to the Southern Scholarship Foundation.
The Southern Scholarship Foundation manages 25 scholarship houses on four different university campuses around the state. The Ralph Davis Kiwanis House provides rent free housing to 13 young men based on grades and financial need and has a value of more than $4,600 a year for each student.
Division 3 clubs raised over $24,000 in 2000 and 2001 to upgrade the current house by repairing the roof, installing vinyl siding on the exterior, and constructing an addition to the house that adds a third bathroom and indoor laundry facility. The upgrade included ADA specifications making the house accessible for physically handicapped students. In addition to this special fund raising project, the clubs of Division 3 will continue to make annual contributions to support minor maintenance of this valuable youth service asset.
Tax exempt donations to this project from individuals or businesses are welcome. These scholarships are open to students from all over the state of Florida. Contact Lt. Gov.Al eppinger of Killearn Kiwanis at (850) 893-9436
